Sunny Days Ahead

Existentialism: a philosophical theory or approach that emphasizes the existence of the individual person as a free and responsible agent determining their own development through acts of the will.  Life is full of blurs.  Blurry memories Blurry days Blurry consciousness  Blurry canvases Blurry predictions Blurry future Though today has been blurry, it has also been the start or a clearer and brighter night.  What is your clarity?

Voices

Image
"If you keep painting, your voice will emerge out of the paintings. Thinking about it will often over simplify or diminish your "voice." One thing to continuously remember while working on any art piece for my portfolio.   I think I have done fairly well with this so far.  Here are finally some pictures for you!  Two of the paintings are not quite finished.  But things are wrapping up here as we come toward the end of this semester,  So I will try to update with more pictures than you can ever imagine soon!

Fall Back

A time when I fall back into memories.  Not really bad memories, but memories all the same.   Just check out the link.  Dustin O'Halloran-my new favorite piano player, especially for this time of year when people are staying indoors and near fireplaces. It really sets the mood.  So if you need some peaceful music, check him out.

Catching Up

It's funny how things catch up to us.   A passing video, book, picture can go past us.  We may see it a few times or multiple times.  Then, all of a sudden we pick up another book or see another movie or other familiar pictures.  And it is the same person we noticed but had forgotten before.  And all of a sudden, they are in our life.  Just like that.  That is how Shaun Tan came into my life.  Just within the past couple of days too.  I watched some animated shorts on youtube.  Then, later that day, I went to the library and happened to pick up a book by the same artist.  And today is the day I realize that it is the same person.   It's funny how things catch up to us.

Quoted T.A. Barron

Memory can be hot as molten lave, or cold as a frozen glacier.  But it's rarely reliable.  Even when it comes back to you, clear and true, it can vanish on the next gust of wind.  Sometimes, it's not really even a memory.  Just a hint, or a glimpse, or a mirage.  Yet strange  as it sounds, that sort of memory can be the truest of all. I learned something valuable that day-a lesson I've never forgotten.  It's worth listening well to what you hear.  No matter how bizarre the story...or how bizarre the storyteller. Who was it who warned, be careful what you wish for?  Whoever they were, I'd like to crush them under a mountain of boulders.  Tear out all their innards.  Roast them over searing hot flames.  And then...I'd tell them they were right.  Size is more elusive than I ever guessed.  It's less something you see, more something you feel.  The same person can feel as huge and enduring as a mountain, or as small and transient as a breath.  Change.

Today as well as many other Days

What have I done today?  Oh, I have accomplished things, but not really things of importance. I finished reading a book that was the last part of a trilogy.  I finally added on Google+, I am about to start another book, while also doing a few sketches and going to bed at the end of today.  And I feel great. Well, maybe not great, but good. Two months to go for this semester and though it hasn't been my hardest semester, it has definitely been hard in different ways.   So though I have not written in quite awhile, I have thought about it many a time.  My blog may not just be for my "readers," though there are few, but also for myself.  To keep myself sane, and to just put thoughts out there.   Things are changing and they are changing fast, but maybe not in a bad way.  So keep a look out for when things finally come.  But in the meanwhile, enjoy today. Enjoy the weather before the snow hits too hard here.
