Tangerines

Weepies again.. :) Tangerines are hanging heavy, glowing marigolden hues Teasing a half-pale moon And I feel a pull to the blue-velvet dark and stars. Pink Magnolia, blushing and coy Savors the sun while she shines You've got yours and I've got mine Together we glide through the blue-velvet dark and stars All it takes is a little faith, and a lot of heart [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/t/the_weepies/stars.html ] Back and forth we ply these oars They move in time and get entwined Green with joy then gray with sorrow Ripened fruit that falls tomorrow Filling us with brilliance Branches are bare with a pulse underneath Flowering slowly inside Your hands are warm and my body is wide To hold all the promise of blue-velvet dark and stars All it takes is a little faith and a lot of heart Sweetheart More lyrics: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/t/the_weepies/#share

Relationships

I find myself sometimes becoming jealous of my friends' relationships of other friends.  There is a bond, a connection, and an exciting feel one gets when meeting a new person and getting to know that person on a deeper level.   That is why I love retreats so much.  The sharing that happens on retreats does not normally occur in the real world until after an extended period of time has passed and spent between those people.   And though I have many relationships like that, I always find the desire for more.  To know more people on that level, and to be able to really know them.  To spend time laughing and crying with them.  I see the relationships other people have made with each other and I find myself always wanting more of that.   However, there are 7 billion other people in the world.  And I am more than thankful for the relationships that I already hold.

Can't Go Back Now

Weepies could only put into words: Yesterday, when you were young,  Everything you needed done was done for you. Now you do it on your own But you find you're all alone,  What can you do?  You and me walk on Cause you can't go back now. You know there will be days when you're so tired that you can't take another step,  The night will have no stars and you'll think you've gone as far as you will ever get [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/t/the_weepies/cant_go_back_now.html ] But you and me walk on Cause you can't go back now And yeah, yeah, go where you want to go Be what you want to be,  If you ever turn around, you'll see me. I can't really say why everybody wishes they were somewhere else But in the end, the only steps that matter are the ones you take all by yourself And you and me walk on Yeah you and me walk on Cause you can't go back now Walk on, walk on, walk on You can't go back now More lyri

Sunny Days Ahead

Existentialism: a philosophical theory or approach that emphasizes the existence of the individual person as a free and responsible agent determining their own development through acts of the will.  Life is full of blurs.  Blurry memories Blurry days Blurry consciousness  Blurry canvases Blurry predictions Blurry future Though today has been blurry, it has also been the start or a clearer and brighter night.  What is your clarity?

Voices

Image
"If you keep painting, your voice will emerge out of the paintings. Thinking about it will often over simplify or diminish your "voice." One thing to continuously remember while working on any art piece for my portfolio.   I think I have done fairly well with this so far.  Here are finally some pictures for you!  Two of the paintings are not quite finished.  But things are wrapping up here as we come toward the end of this semester,  So I will try to update with more pictures than you can ever imagine soon!

Fall Back

A time when I fall back into memories.  Not really bad memories, but memories all the same.   Just check out the link.  Dustin O'Halloran-my new favorite piano player, especially for this time of year when people are staying indoors and near fireplaces. It really sets the mood.  So if you need some peaceful music, check him out.

Catching Up

It's funny how things catch up to us.   A passing video, book, picture can go past us.  We may see it a few times or multiple times.  Then, all of a sudden we pick up another book or see another movie or other familiar pictures.  And it is the same person we noticed but had forgotten before.  And all of a sudden, they are in our life.  Just like that.  That is how Shaun Tan came into my life.  Just within the past couple of days too.  I watched some animated shorts on youtube.  Then, later that day, I went to the library and happened to pick up a book by the same artist.  And today is the day I realize that it is the same person.   It's funny how things catch up to us.

Quoted T.A. Barron

Memory can be hot as molten lave, or cold as a frozen glacier.  But it's rarely reliable.  Even when it comes back to you, clear and true, it can vanish on the next gust of wind.  Sometimes, it's not really even a memory.  Just a hint, or a glimpse, or a mirage.  Yet strange  as it sounds, that sort of memory can be the truest of all. I learned something valuable that day-a lesson I've never forgotten.  It's worth listening well to what you hear.  No matter how bizarre the story...or how bizarre the storyteller. Who was it who warned, be careful what you wish for?  Whoever they were, I'd like to crush them under a mountain of boulders.  Tear out all their innards.  Roast them over searing hot flames.  And then...I'd tell them they were right.  Size is more elusive than I ever guessed.  It's less something you see, more something you feel.  The same person can feel as huge and enduring as a mountain, or as small and transient as a breath.  Change.

Today as well as many other Days

What have I done today?  Oh, I have accomplished things, but not really things of importance. I finished reading a book that was the last part of a trilogy.  I finally added on Google+, I am about to start another book, while also doing a few sketches and going to bed at the end of today.  And I feel great. Well, maybe not great, but good. Two months to go for this semester and though it hasn't been my hardest semester, it has definitely been hard in different ways.   So though I have not written in quite awhile, I have thought about it many a time.  My blog may not just be for my "readers," though there are few, but also for myself.  To keep myself sane, and to just put thoughts out there.   Things are changing and they are changing fast, but maybe not in a bad way.  So keep a look out for when things finally come.  But in the meanwhile, enjoy today. Enjoy the weather before the snow hits too hard here.

The Beginning of a Long Long Time

As I sit here and think about this last year of my undergraduate studies. I have long awaited this time, but also have not dreaded it more than I will when May comes.  Of course I will be glad to graduate and get a degree, but the real world looms over my head as well as every one else's.  It is hard to ignore, but it takes a lot of time to plan for too.

In Between Stages

A lot of writing will be coming up - I need to get thoughts written out... I've been doing a lot of thinking lately- about art and life in general.  Now to put it into words...  The one that I keep hanging on to is the word transition.  Freaking transition. No one said this would be easy. No one agrees that it is easy.  If it were easy, transition would be more of a movement or action, when rather it is a state of mind,  a long period of adjusting,  an in between two times time, an unsettling place.        This could go on forever to infinity.  Every moment and passing second is a period of transition.  But the dealing with transition is the hardest part.  HOW do I want to transition? WHAT do I want to transition to? WHO do I want to transition into being? WHEN do I want to accept and face this transition? WHERE do I want to transition to? WHY?  Try answering those.  Except you can't. Definitely anyway. Sure you can maybe answer

Cameras and Pictures Galore

http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/notcamera.htm   After looking at so many cameras, this provided truth and entertainment to read. http://en.leica-camera.com/ photography/compact_cameras/v- lux_30/     Really sweet video you should check out. I also learned today a little about Leica cameras and how they are way overpriced, but really spiffy looking.  http://www.dpreview.com/learn/ ?/Guides/dslr_buying_guide_01. htm   Good thing to look at if you're looking into buying a camera.  This website in general has been very helpful to me.  Be sure to take a look at user images while you are looking at specific cameras! (Or even if you aren't!)

Links, Pictures, and Dragons Oh My!

I think I may have found my next favorite illustrator: Justin Gerard.  Just take a look at his luminous and glowing pieces. (Just search his images in google).  Also on this link, is a Harry Potter tribute exhibition. A-mazing. Especially Nicolas Bannister's work as well as Kia Acedera's piece titled "The Boy Who Lived" The Zombie in Love exhibition looks a little cheesy, but she has good talent and it is pretty funny looking.  I would definitely recommend looking at this link- it also only takes a short bit of your time too.

Going Downhill

My updating this blog has slowly been failing.. But I will try to make up for it these next couple weeks!  (At least I have somewhat averaged posts every other day...) Anyway, not much has happened since the wedding. Just more links and maybe some pictures to update with :)  For now, my lack of sleep takes over as I will relax and take this evening off... Go enjoy the weather and enjoy life before the summer is gone...

HP News!

I found myself laughing at each one.   Reasons: 1. Of course Emma would have a crush on Tom Felton. Have you seen him not  as Draco?                2. Emma is also adorable, and it's seems to be funny how she didn't really want to be famous, and                       now she's on a million and one covers talking about fashion.                3. It's also really funny how each of these actors are trying so hard to be known as something other                       than being Harry, Ron, or Hermione. I don't get why, I know they are more than that, buuut,                       even i

Web Comicsss

If you were wondering where I got some of the web comics links, here are more (click on title).  I haven't checked out all of them, but the ones I posted awhile ago are really good, and Joe and Monkey and Theater Hopper look pretty good too.  http://www.thewebcomiclist.com/  Then I decided just to search web comics since I have a goal to find more good ones this summer. I'm pretty sure the list is never ending! The trick is just trying to find decent ones that both have enjoyable art and decent storytelling.  So happy venturing! I'll try to show ones I found as I look through.
