30 Goals: Hot Yoga
This happens to be the first item on my list but I have not done these in any order. This just happened to be the first one I fully completed.
I decided to sign up for a hot yoga class the night before Thanksgiving so I could feel less guilty about the amount of food I was going to consume on Thursday. Well, when I first got there, the whole classroom was only lit by strung lights and a couple of candles. It smelled really good too surprisingly-not too overwhelming either. The point was to help everyone focus on doing yoga for themselves and to not be self-conscious about it.
The class was challenging and I did enjoy it. However, had both positives and negatives to say about it:
Positives:
Loved being able to workout in semi-darkness and not worry as much about the people around me.
It never smelled like sweat. I think the mat covers were scented with something and the whole ventilation seemed to have some kind of diffuser spray to mask any smell of sweat and body odor.
They gave out a frozen towel at the end of class.
I was fully thawed from cold outside temperatures.
Negatives:
I was a bit dehydrated and possibly a little hungry, which ended up making me a bit lightheaded.
Every time I attend a yoga class, the teacher seems to go very quickly between poses. Sure, maybe that’s how it’s supposed to go, but I enjoy being able to find a pose and try to hold it-so I can work on strength, balance, and breathing. However, it is also a fitness class, so there is that aspect to it… just not my favorite.
Would I do it again? Probably. Especially after spending another month in subfreezing temperatures. It’s like being in a sauna for an hour and just getting all the sweat out. Sometimes I forget what it feels like to sweat-like sweat all over to where you can feel it dripping on your body, because I don’t do intense workouts that frequently. And I actually enjoy it. As much as it may suck in the moment, my body gets a huge high from it and I feel really good afterward. Well, a few hours later at least.
