The Beginning of Thoughts

Just watched Howard, about Howard Ashman - lyricist of Little Shop, Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, etc...[Even though those lyrics are written by Tim Rice...]


Just feeling the immediate call to creativity and to use my time while it’s here. We never know when our time will be up and how can I just get out what’s truly inside?


Coming into my 30’s where I have the confidence and gut to not always listen to people, and feel that I’m okay paving my own path. It will always be a struggle, but I have a solid foundation thanks to my privileges. I don’t want to throw away my shot. 


Every year, I grow closer to fully understanding myself. 

Letting my muse finally find me in action more and more every year.

float to the tips of my fingers 

to the lips of my vulva

powerful

energetic

myself

feeling like I understand me

tracing curves of beautiful people

with my pencil

taking in the juiciness of crisp

high contrast

lines on paper

letting the image 

pop 

as I truly see it

To reveal

a true and sexy

person

who knows and is herself

unapologetically

"Why I'm Dysfunctional Today"

Things I've learned about being in the "real world" so far/or what I have experienced while still living with my parents:    Since I now schedule my own work time...                I like to get projects done one at a time before moving onto another one,         which then results in me undertaking this huge project, and working on that-which is usually not that important-not getting anything else done all day, and then wearing myself out because I feel like I didn't do anything (since I haven't finished the project).          That being said, I think all projects I have will take 1-3 days tops.  Not even close.         So then I tried to move on to scheduling my days about hour by hour, or 2-3 hours at a time.  This result?  Spending way too much free time on the computer and talking to friends, or not accounting for travel and eating time....

Some of you may know already, but for the past 11-12 weeks, I have been reading "The Artist's Way-Walking in This World" by Julia Cameron.  And I have already learned a great deal about myself, my art self, and fueling my creativity.   So for this post, I am extending on one of the "tasks," as well as sharing a tidbit of what I read.  "As artist's, we routinely tap an inner well, and the well is fed by our spiritual condition.  When we have kept our spirit carefully nurtured, the creative water seems to flow easily.  When our spirit is dried out with unacknowledged discouragement, our inner well runs dry."  "As artists, we don't want to be petty, but the truth is, we need  to be.  If we try to 'let go of' a creative slight, we very often simply bury it.  There, tucked neatly into our subconscious, it can do its slow and poisonous work.  Too embarrassed to repeat the 'tiny' comment to a friend on the way out the door fr...
